Hello Everybody, Well we did have some good news on Tuesday that I would like to share. I got the results of my latest scans and it seems likely that the cancer is in remission (at least for now). The news was generally all good and certainly a BIG relief to Luciana and I. I will be going in this Friday for a (pretty minor) operation to remove some Kidney Stones, then we are very hopeful that we may have these medical issues behind us...at least for a while. : - ))) I will not be going back for more scans until January so I will likely not be posting another update until then. Once again Luciana and I want to thank you all so much for all of your help, support, and love. Take Care, Bob

Hello Everybody, Sorry I have not had any updates lately but there really has not been too much new news (which is probably good...right?). I will be going in next week for a surgery which should not be too complicated and then more scans in the middle of October. If the scans come out clear then I believe I will be (more or less) on a maintenence program of just checking everything every 3 to 6 months. I'll keep you informed on how things go for the next month. Thanks once again for all of the support you have given us. With Love, Bob

Hello Everybody, Well, I had another set of scans completed last week and went to the doctor last Tuesday to get the results. Overall, things were pretty positive! While there are still some tumors present, they have all either stayed the same size (which indicates that they may probably be beniegn (not sure I spelled this correctly but you know what I mean) or gone down in size (which is even better!). There has also been some improvement in the blood clots that surfaced in the last scan. So, while everything isn't perfect (and I'll still have to monitor everything very carefully) it looks at least like things are not getting any worse and I should not have to have any surgerys or other treatment for now (which is a relief for me). I will go to get a 2nd opinion from a surgeon in late August but for now that's about all the news that's fit to print. Thanks again to all of you for your love and support. With Love...Bob

June
Hi everyone, As Bob mention in his last updated, there is not much going on in the medical aspect. But there is a lot going on with us: the last three weeks we had great normal weeks. Bob is doing and looking great: he is back to work, he got some weight and color back, his humor is back and his hair is coming back (he will kill me that I posted this here!). For now we are just living normal lives, enjoying the summer weather and waiting for the next set of exams in the end of July. We appreciate everyone’s support during this time. Love Luciana Corwin

Hello Everybody, Luciana and I went to the doctor for our appointment yesterday and (for the most part) had very good news! The scans showed that the tumors were signifigantly reduced from what they were when I started the treatment way back in February (doesn't seem that long). There are still a couple of (small) areas that are something of a concern and will have to be rechecked in July, but overall all was very good with the scans. The only other complication (seems like it's always something...right) is that I do have some blood clots that have formed (perhaps from the treatment). The probably is, however, that they can be treated with medication that I'm taking now. So, while everything wasn't "perfect" overall it was good news and Lu and I are very happy and relieved at least that we can take a little break until July. Since we probably won't have too much additional news for about 6 weeks I wanted to take this opportunity to once again sincerely thank all of you for your steadfast support and encouragment during this difficult time. Luciana and I really appreciate it! With Love, Bob

Hello Everybody, Just wanted to let you know that I finished up all of the Chemo treatments yesterday (Tuesday) and tomorrow I will go in to get new scans completed. I will go in with Luciana next Tuesday (the 29th) for a meeting with the doctor and to get the results. I am a "little" nervous about the appointment but also optimistic that there will be some signifigant improvement. I'll let you know next week how everything looks and what the next step(s) will be. Keep your fingers crossed for me! With Love, Bob

Hello Everybody, Well I finished up with my 4th round of treatment last Friday and all went pretty well. I was feeling some of the effects towards the end of the week and over the weekend but not as bad (for some reason) as the 3rd session? Luciana and I have been enjoying spending time with Luciana's parents during the last week and Luciana has been able to take some time off work to help me (she has been really great!) and to spend some time with them. This week I am hoping to fully recover and (I only have one treatment this week) and then get back in the swing of things soon. I hope that all is well with all of you and I'll touch base again soon. THANKS again for all of your support...it really mean a LOT to us. With Love, Bob

Hello Everybody, Well I am heading into my 4th round of treatment next week and (while I am a little apprehensive) I am also happy to be going all out to eliminate these tumors. I believe that I can withstand another week but I do NOT think the tumors can! I will keep you all updated and let you know how things are going. With Love, Bob

3rd session
Hello Everybody, Just another little update for you… Last week Bob finished his third session of Chemo. He had some rough days toward the end of last week and weekend: he lost considerable weight (10 lbs) in a short time (and I have been trying so hard!). Yesterday we met with the doctor and today he is doing fine: already planning to run some errands. During his sessions his family has been great. I appreciate all the effort from: Maryann and Pete for planning everything, for the support and making him company, Kathy and Denny for your caring and company, Kari and Dana for spoiling him with food (I am in trouble now) and company, Dave for fixing our bed (still hanging in there), Stacey for making him company and putting together this website, Nate for fixing our house, Kris for the nice notes and all the Eckenbergs, Ritchies, Kannes, Issas, Royals, Wagoners & Hartles for the visits, entertaining moments, laughs and treats… And all my family that even though they are far from us I know that they are close in thoughts and prayers….and giving us a lot of support. THANKS AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL! With Love, Luciana

Hello Everybody, Well, I am finishing up with my third weekly session of treatment and still things are going pretty well with the side effects (i.e. not too bad). I spoke to the doctor on Monday and it looks like he wants to do a fourth session after this because of the fact that I am handling the treatment well and also that some of the tumors were a bit large when we started. I am not exactly "excited" about going through another week of treatment but I am thinking that I would like to make every effort to eradicate these tumors before we discontinue. So, I say that if it will help to ensure a cure then...bring it on! With Love, Bob

Hi Everybody, There is not a lot of new news for now but I did want to write a quick note for this week. I had a short treatment today and then I will go to work later this week. Next week I will finish up my last full week of treatment and then I will have some more CAT scans to determine what progress has been made. Believe it or not it is still snowing up here (in the middle of April!) but we are hoping that one day soon we will (finally!) get some good Spring weather. I hope that everything is going well with all of you and I will touch base again next week. With Love, Bob

Hi Everybody, I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to update the website but our internet connection was out of commission for a while so I had to wait until I got to work (after my treatment session from last week) to do another update. Anyway, my treatments went pretty well last week with not too many side effects at least until the end of the week (when I started to feel somewhat quesy and tired over the weekend). Overall, however, the treatments seem to be going well and I am still in a positive mind frame that the results be positive when I go for my scans(which will be after my next full week of treatment in about 1 month or so). I do want you all to know that I really do appreciate all of the messages you have all been sending. They are fun to read and it's very nice to know that I have so much support and love out there in the world. Thannks Again! With Love, Bob

We have not been able to access internet from home, so we have not been updating the website as we should neither responding e-mails. I believe we will have this solve by this weekend. Our phones are still working!!! Bob has been doing fine this week: keeping his sense of humor, eating well and running errands (I am really proud of him!!!). Stomach ache sometimes bothers him…We have been through half of chemo treatment and we still have the other half to go before we know how effective it has been. We will get there!!! Love, Lu

3o WEEK
Bob had two good weeks: he went to Chemo on Tuesdays and was feeling good, so he went to work most of the other days. Next week he will be in treatment the whole week and I believe he may feel the effects of it. In the mean while we are working on make him eat the right stuff: a lot of meat and green vegetables.

I just want to let you all known a wife’s point of view: It seems that Bob’s treatment has been good. He has had a good week, however, the last 3 days he started feeling a bit the effects of the drugs (tired and sick). But it has been much less than we had expected it to be. Even though he has been quieter than normal (which is not all bad…just kidding!) his sense of humor is still there! He has been sleeping more than usual, while I clean, paint, organize the house and collect poops outside (hey, something does not sound right here!). Most of the time, we have been really positive about everything. And with the treatment going on we feel better that he has being taken care. Samba (our new dog) has been great company for him and has put some smiles on his face! I want to apologize for not returning promptly all the phone calls. We appreciate all the care and love from everyone, but it has been difficult to keep up with all the phone calls. We will continue to do our best with trying to talk with everybody and please do also continue to check the website; we will try and put updates on every couple of days. With Love, Luciana

HI Everybody, Well, I'm finished with the 1st three days of the treatment and haven't really had any issues with side effects yet. So, all is well and I'm feeling good that I'm getting started with things. It'll be a long road but all long journeys must begin with a 1st step. Our new housemate (Samba the Golden Retreavier) is doing better and seems to be getting used to us and the house, we are getting pretty attached to him after just a couple of days (big surprise...right)? I'll touch base again later this week. With Love, Bob

HI Everybody, Just wanted to touch base and let you know that I met with the doctor today and had my 1st treatment. Actually, the doctor was very positive and optimistic about the treatment. I will go through three treatment regimans for the next approximately 2 months and then then reevaluate everything from that point. He seems to think that there will be significant progress in reducing the tumors and at that point I will probably need to consider some surgery to clear any bad areas. Hopefully, the entire process could be completed within about 6 months or so and then I can get back to normal. Of course this is a bit "best case scenario" but thats what I'm hoping for and expecting. The Chemo treatment was no problem today although I may have a little bit of a tougher time with some side effects down the road...we'll see? Well, Luciana's almost got dinner ready so I'd better get going. It's pork chops tonight because I have to eat lots of protein and sweets (well, I just kind of told her the sweets part so don't give me away!). Talk to you all later this week...With Love, Bob

Hi Everybody, Well, I thought that I would share some potentially good news that I got today for the doctor. He called me today and told me that the type of cancer that I have is (without getting into all of the details) one of the most treatable types that there is. Also, it seems to be one that is a bit slow moving (i.e. not aggressive) which is also good news. The doctor was very positive on the phone today that he is expecting the treatment to achieve some positive results after a couple of weeks! So, Luciana and I feel pretty good heading into the weekend and I am ready to get going with this treatment on Monday. I hope you all have a nice weekend (and keep out of the snow - we have a blizzard going on up here in Minnesota) and I will touch base again next week. Thanks to all of you for your support... With Love, Bob

I just want to thank you all for the support, love, toughts and prayers. It is really important for us to know that we have such a caring family and friends. We are optimistic about this treatment and we will be tough in our fight! For those who do not know, Bob is starting Chemo next week and we will keep you updated on how everything is going... With Love,
